Patch notes
0.6 · 2026-09-18What changed in each release, newest first. The version sitting on the baseline is the build this page was served from.
-
- changed Patch notes have a page of their own at /patch-notes, linked from the footer, instead of sitting at the bottom of the landing page.
-
- added A community page: typefaces drawn in BARE and shared by the people who made them, free to open and download.
- added Share in the community from the File menu. What you share is a snapshot, and you can take it down at any time.
- added Every shared typeface has a page of its own — specimen, character set, and TTF, OTF, WOFF and .bare downloads.
- changed Typefaces are the only thing that can be shared. No text, no comments, no profiles.
- fixed The starter typeface drew its asterisk as three thick crossing bars, whose outline read as a six-pointed star rather than an asterisk. It has five arms now, and follows the stem weight like every other glyph.
-
- changed The site name reads BARE in search results instead of the domain it is hosted on.
- fixed On the Turkish and German pages the site record pointed at the translated landing page instead of the site root.
- added Patch notes, kept on the landing page.
-
- added English, Turkish and German across the whole platform — landing, editors, panels and errors.
- added A language switch on every page, and hreflang links for each translation.
-
- added Canonical URLs, structured data, a sitemap and robots.txt.
- added Share image, app icons and a web manifest.
-
- added Text canvas: freely positioned blocks, named styles, OpenType features, SVG export with real outlines.
- added Font editor: pen, freehand, rectangle, ellipse and knife, with weight, width, slant and contrast as live parameters.
- added TTF, OTF and WOFF written byte by byte in this codebase, every build read back and compared against the source.
- added Accounts, .bare project files, and Bare Sans — 96 glyphs drawn and spaced.
